ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm Samantha, a designer currently residing in Tewksbury, MA. Welcome to my college portfolio! I am a graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design, where I earned a Bachelor's of Fine Arts Degree in Architecture. This site currently serves as my recorded college portfolio (last major update around 2018). Below continues my original “about me” from that time frame, setting up the work shown.

Growing up, I spend much of my free time before high school with my father. Before I was born, he owned a construction company, from which he developed long term relationships with a few of his clients. I kept him company as he continued to complete jobs for his clients, which allowed me to learn many things about the construction trade from him. Everything I learned, from my knowledge of tools and hardware to the basics and details of how to complete construction projects, became my reference point when I became a student of architecture at MassArt.

Despite my strong foundation in the architectural field, my first interest in college was graphic design. I completed 2 years as a graphic design major before rediscovering my interest in architecture through a project where I focused on the design style of Frank Lloyd Wright. I then made the decision to double major in both fields. Although I ultimately decided to drop graphic design as a major to fully focus on architecture, my initial time in graphic design laid a standard for design excellence that I brought to my architecture work. Through my double major, I discovered how integral graphic design knowledge is for a successful career in architecture. This understanding gives me a unique perspective within the architecture field, and allows me to bring to the table strong graphic design skills that could enhance any architecture project.

My career goals as an architect are to focus my skills into a path of sustainable renovation, eventually opening my own firm in residential design. I plan to focus on older and/or abandoned houses and buildings, renovating them in a sustainable manner and with sustainable design ideas so that an old home can find a new purpose, life and family.

By exploring the tabs at the top of the page, you will find examples of both my architecture and graphic design work, as well as other interests of mine, including interior design and photography. If you like what you see, please email me!

All my best, Samantha
